Toiture

Collaboration with Maurice Nagalo and part of Hors Pistes residency in Ouagadougou.

Toiture is a surface made of hundreds of slippers soles found in Ouagadougou's landfills. The soles are cleaned and then trimmed using a simple template. A few cuts allow the tiles to be assembled without the use of any additional material. The surface can be used as a shelter from the rain or the African sun. We estimated that if we could collect every slipper going into the landfill, we could cover more than 100'000 square meters every year.
